Tips for Meditating in Your Hot Tub –

Meditating helps us relax through de-stressing breathing exercises. It’s also a great way to calm the mind through a process called mindfulness, allowing you to understand the source of your innermost emotions. It’s a highly beneficial practice made more relaxing in a hot tub. Read on for more information about how to meditate while enjoying the benefits of your hot tub.

Take It Slow

If you’re new to the practice of meditation, it may feel overwhelming, though it’s designed to be just the opposite. It’s best to take your first time slowly to get a feel for the practice. Set a quiet timer for 5 or 10 minutes, allowing an extra minute to get settled and comfortable. More seasoned meditators can meditate for 15 minutes or more.

Ensure a comfortable position with good posture. Get “in touch” with each part of your body; feel the water’s buoyancy and your body’s contact with your seat and backrest. The goal is not to change anything but to notice how each part of your body feels.

Minimize Distraction

It’s important to minimize distraction as much as possible, so start by turning off your hot tub’s jets. Distance yourself from loud or startling noises. You may choose to keep your eyes closed or leave them half open, allowing you to focus on the calm surface of the water before you.


The most important part of meditating is to breathe correctly. Start with 5 slow, deep breaths, allowing them to go all the way into your torso. Slowly release the air in each breath, and imagine your body releasing stressors and other worries. Allow your breath to move into its natural rhythm, remaining aware of air moving in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Be Mindful

If your mind wanders, don’t worry; simply acknowledge the loss of contact with your breath. Return focus to your next inhalation, and be aware of your thoughts and feelings. Come back to the practice of meditating again and again, and you’ll truly experience clarity of mind.
